About Emma Norton Residence
Emma Norton Residence located in Saint Paul, MN provides sober housing for women.
Detailed description details:
In 1917, the Methodist Girls Club began serving young women coming to the Twin Cities for work and school. A house was bought on College Avenue in St. Paul to house these women. In 1921, Mrs. Emma (Hayes) Norton of Winona donated $25, 000 in stocks and bonds to the Women's Home Missionary Society of the Methodist Church. Through careful management, this gift grew, and along with other contributions from Methodist women, a new facility was built in 1967. This was named after the woman whose gift helped make this possible, the Emma Norton Residence. Our original goals were to provide safe, stable, and affordable housing to young women coming to the Twin Cities for work and school. Over the last decade, we have begun providing housing and services to homeless women and most recently to homeless single-parents with four or more children.
Mission Statement
Our mission is transformational housing for women and families on their journey of recovery.
