Beacon of Life is a transitional housing facility located in Des Moines, Iowa, with a 34-woman capacity. Our mission is to create an environment that empowers women in crisis to achieve positive, long-term change.Beacon of Life is the only shelter in Central Iowa that provides transitional housing with supportive services in a structured environment exclusively to women. We provide a safe and secure home and services that offer both anonymity and a sense of belonging, allowing our residents to overcome addictions, trauma and personal struggles through financial, health and wellness, employment and recovery programs.
