Detailed description details:
Pathways mission is to provide the best possible behavioral health treatment and prevention services and other related services to individuals, families, and communities to improve the quality of life in Northeast Iowa. Pathways provides compassionate behavioral health treatment, prevention services and more to support northeast Iowas families and communities. Pathways Behavioral Services believes that alcoholism and other chemical dependencies are primary, progressive, chronic, and fatal diseases. This concept of chemical dependency as a disease means the individual is a victim of the illness just like an individual with cancer or diabetes. Chemical dependency adversely affects individuals in mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and decision making areas of life. Chemical dependency is characterized by loss of control, recurring problems in major life areas, and changing priorities. The denial and delusion that is characteristic of chemical dependency means that often the chemically dependent individual is the last to recognize the problem with chemicals.
